ABOUT US
The La Crosse Area Composite Mountain Biking Team was formed to give 6th-12th grade students in the La Crosse, Wisconsin area the opportunity to develop off-road cycling skills in a positive, supportive atmosphere. Our team starts training together in July and races in September and October. We compete against other teams in the Wisconsin High School Cycling League under the rules of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association. PRACTICES
Practices are held Tuesdays & Thursdays 4-5:30 PM from early July through October. We meet at the parking lot in Myrick Park by the Ecopark building & gun club shelter.
There are optional Short Track races Wednesdays at 6:30 at the Human Powered Trails/Upper Hixon Forest.
There are also occasional team rides on weekends. These will be announced in advance.
RACES
There are five races during the season. See the Home page for current information regarding race dates or the Wisconsin High School Cycling League website for more detail. All races require travel in the state.
Team members race by gender and category (Middle school, Freshmen, JV, Varsity).
Athletes race 1 to 4 laps of a 5-mile course depending on category.
Pre-riding the race course with the team the day before a race is encouraged. If you do NOT want to race, you can still participate in Saturday's pre-race ride with the team. We will need to collect $5 (for insurance) at the race.
Many team members and their families camp and eat at the race venue, which is lots of fun for the riders and parents.
Transportation is the responsibility of the individual riders’ families. However, our team does work together to coordinate carpooling of riders and their bikes.
Volunteers are needed at each race; ALL riders and parents/guardians are asked to help with course set-up and tear-down.
